CommentA compilation of over 4,300 leading cases covering the first hundred years of the Qing. Hong Hongxu, a legal secretary, also authored a revised version of Shen Zhiqi’s Da Qing lü jizhu (q.v.). The documents are arranged according to the order and categories of the Code (with a few rearrangements explained in the fanli), whose 30-chapter structure is likewise followed. An extra-chapter has been added for the cases concerning fugitives (taoren 逃人). Cases not yet concluded have been included; their conclusions (chaming 查明) will be inserted in future engravings. The authors have also included the cases already published in such works as the chuxu leibian 初續類編 (possibly the Cheng’an huibian and Cheng’an xubian [qq.vv.]), the Dingli cheng’an [hejuan], and the Li’an quanji (qq.vv.). Each juan is preceded by a list of the cases it contains, with captions indicating their contents. The title of the relevant statute is written at the bottom of the central margin. (phtgr)
