CommentRem.: The work includes a section with moral advice and a section with practical recommendations. Much of the contents are similar to those of the Chushi lu (q.v.), which may have served as an inspiration. For this reason Takigawa (see below) considers that the text must date from the Longqing-Wanli period. For the parts not based on the Chushi lu the sources appear to be Song and Yuan handbooks such as the Zhouxian tigang, Guanzhen, Zhoulian xulun, and Sanshi zhonggao (qq.vv.).
