AbstractThe Late Professor Wallace Johnson made a great work in this complete transcription of the Tanglü shuyi 唐律疏議, that is the statute laws with their officially sanctioned commentary. The work is in two volumes, published in 1979 and 1997, respectively. This notice is for the first volume, see the next one for the second volume.
CommentThe translation as well as the abundant annotations are to be praised for their remarkable erudition and relevance. The glossary appended to each volume is limited, however, almost in the second one. This first volume being out of print, we take the liberty to put on line photocopies, thus providing Chinese law students with a very needed work.
