TitleXinke fabi tianyou 新刻法筆天油
Topic4.3 Magistrates handbooks: Handbooks for Pettifoggers (songshi 訟師)
AuthorAnonymous
Volume2
Publication typeWoodblock
CommentRem.: The work appears to be identical with the Fajia jingtian lei (q.v.), whose title is combined with the words fabi in the title at the head of j. 2. The title Xingtai qinjing corresponds to a work somewhat different in form, but obviously very close in contents (q.v.). All of these works belong to a genre situated at the fringe of the administrative world, inasmuch as they seem to have been published for the benefit of the law specialists entrusted by their clients to lodge complaints for their sake (the so-called songshi 訟師, or “pettifoggers”) but convey the same sort of specialized knowledge as the handbooks written for judicial private secretaries.
Ed.: Undated ed. with title given as Xingtai qinjing 刑臺秦鏡. The title at the head of j. 上 and 下 is Xinke fabi tianyou 新刻法筆天油.
