AbstractA manuscript collection of capital cases in mid- & late Qianlong reign involving killing senior relatives. In most cases, there were circumstances demanding lenient sentences, and hence the accused were suspended from the execution. The file records reflect the final stage in the process at the central level, particularly the factors taken into account in making merciful decisions by high-ranking officials, sometimes concluded by imperial rescripts.
