Comment

A classified collection of anecdotes on exemplary officials since antiquity (a majority from the Song period), culled from the classics and histories. Each anecdote has a caption, and begins with the name of the relevant dynasty; the source is usually indicated. The retribution for good and bad behavior is emphasized. The work was compiled with a view to providing models for officials and helping government. The absence of mulu and of clear organization makes consultation somewhat difficult.
