An extremely detailed and specialized handbook for pettifoggers. Contrary to others (e.g. Fajia jingtian lei [q.v.]), the pages are not split into two horizontal registers, the same materials being spread over four chapters. J. 1 (shou 首) contains a wealth of materials on the formats for complaints, sentencing, the general categories of the Penal Code in rhyme form (lüfa zongge 律法總歌), “questions and answers” on judicial decisions in typical cases (duanzui wenda 斷罪問答), the contents and application of categories such as the “six spoils” (liuzang 六贓) or “seven sorts of homicide” (qisha 七殺), the rules for redeeming punishments, and more. J. 2 is devoted to the categories (lei) of the code (for both penal and civil cases) most used in local courts (see Fajia jingtian lei, q.v.). J. 3 introduces various types of relevant administrative documents, plus examples of prohibitions (e.g. again adultery) and proclamations (e.g. to pray for rain). J. 4 includes more proclamations, and models of judicial sentences (panduan lei 判斷類).
